A World Legend.... Lionel Messi

Introduction

Lionel Andres Messi is an Argentine soccer player who serves as the captain of the national team Argentina, and plays on the Spanish club team FC Barcelona (FC stands for Football Club). He is considered to be the world's best soccer player. He was born in Argentina to parents Jorge Horácio Messi, a factory steel worker, and Celia María Cuccittini, a part-time cleaner. He also had two older brothers, Rodrigo and Matias, and one sister named Maria Sol. When he was 5 years old, he started playing for a local club coached by his father. However, at the age of 11, Messi was diagnosed with a growth hormone deficieny. This caused his growth to stop, which made him smaller than the other kids his age. Since his parents could not pay for his treatment, they looked for football clubs that were willing to take him and pay for his treatment. Finally, the sport director of FC Barcelona, Carles Rexach agreed to let Messi in. Messi and his family moved to Barcelona, where Messi enrolled in the club's youth academy. Messi's soccer career had begun.

Quotes From the Legend

The day you think there is no improvements to be made is a sad one for any player.
-Lionel Messi

I think this quote means that nobody is perfect. There are chances for improvement everywhere, and especially in sports. No matter how good you think are in soccer, you can always get better. And I think the Messi is saying that when you stop trying to improve, you will never reach your full potential.

In football as in watchmaking, talent and elegance mean nothing without rigour and precision.
-Lionel Messi

I think this quote means that if there are no obstacles in your way, you haven't tried anything new. That's because all the famous people have had obstacles along their way. Also, I think that means the more obstacles along the way, the bigger the triumph.

You have to fight to reach your dream. You have to sacrifice and work hard for it.
-Lionel Messi

I think this quote means that if you want to achieve something big, there will be many obstacles trying to stop you. With every good thing comes a bad thing.

Messi's Accomplishments

Lionel Messi has accomplished many things. One thing he accomplished was the amount of trophies he earned.  According to Wikipedia "He won four FIFA/Ballons d'Or, all of which he won consecutively, as well as the first to win three European Golden Shoe awards. Messi has won six La Ligas, two Copas del Rey, five Supercopas de España, three UEFA Champions Leagues, two UEFA Super Cups and two Club World Cups." I think the way these accomplishments have inspired me is if I want to get a lot of trophies and fame like Messi, I'm going to have to really hard towards it just like Messi did and still does. This accomplishment made me respect this person because these awards prove how hard he worked day and night to be the great footballer he is today. Another thing Messi accomplished is the many reccords he broke, one being Messi was the youngest player to score 200 La Liga goals. The way these records and accomplishments inspired me is if I don't have time to practice whatever I love doing, I have to carve out time for that thing. Messi also had to carve out lots and lots of time for soccer out of his own time, and that's what makes me respect Messi a lot too. These are two of the many things Messi accomplished, and these are two of the many things that inspired me and made me respect him so much.
